Lake Wales Care Center
We are a founding partner of the Lake Wales Care Center, a faith based community service organization which demonstrates Christ’s love by building bridges between people in need and people with a desire to serve.
Lake Wales Care Center is a holistic, Christian ministry that works to provide the physical, emotional, relational and spiritual needs of Lake Wales area residents. LWCC provides emergency services, transitional housing, Meals-on-Wheels, community kitchen serving hot meals, home repairs, community youth & after-school programs, elderly-care home visits, holiday assistance, Stay-at-Home Work Camp, thrift store sales, and a food cooperative program (SHARE). LWCC serves those in need who reside in Lake Wales, Indian Lake Estates, Dundee, Babson Park, and Waverly.
Summer Work Camp
The goal of Stay-at-home Work Camps is to provide services to homeowners who are in need of some home repairs. During the summer break, the care center offers four week-long sessions, each with about one hundred campers and counselors. The campers stay at a Lake Wales facility, either Camp Endeavor or the h.e.a.r.t. Village. During the day, campers visit local homeowners and complete various home repairs, including painting, yard maintenance, and yes, even roof repair. Campers can expect to work hard, enjoy down time with each other, and grow together during worship and devotion.
Thanksliving
Our Thanksgiving Work camp serves a similar purpose of the summer camps. Students come together a few days before thanksgiving to serve the local community, although this camp’s service opportunities involve a little less physical energy. Students can expect to visit nursing homes, volunteer at a backyard bible club, set up Care-giving trees, deliver thanksgiving meals and much more. Campers will also hear from various speakers for daily devotionals.
