To God be the Glory!

Philosophy of Music Ministry

Soli Deo Gloria

To God alone, be the glory!

God’s Word teaches us that “whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (I Cor. 10:31) Music is a precious gift given to us from our Heavenly Father. As we increasingly move to submit to God’s will in every aspect of our lives, we seek to use the gift of music to glorify God in a manner that honors the purity of His Holy character. “You shall be Holy, for I am Holy.” (I Peter 1:16) As worshipers we understand that the focus of our worship and adoration is God and God alone!

Sola Scriptura

The Scriptures alone!

The Bible is the Word of God and “all Scripture is breathed out by God.” (II Timothy 3:16) His Word is therefore the authoritative foundation for the faith and practice of every Christian. God tells us to “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Col. 3:16) Singing is a time of Biblical instruction, admonition, and praise, as we sing to the Lord with grace in our hearts. Songs used in the worship of our Lord consist of direct words of Scripture or the faithful exposition of Scripture put to music. Worship music is not purposed to create an artificial emotional atmosphere or mood but is based on the intellectual and spiritual reality of a Biblically based text. It is from the Scriptures that we grow to understand the preeminent Lordship
of Jesus Christ over everything.

Imago Dei

The Image of God!

God created man in His own image,” (Gen. 1:27) and as Christians it is our desire to live every moment of our
lives recognizing and glorifying God as our Holy, Sovereign, Creator, and Redeemer. We are blessed to be His children made in His image. We are instructed to “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, Holy and acceptable
unto God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good an acceptable and perfect.
” (Romans 12:1-2) His Word tells us, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.” (I John 2:15) Our music should never reflect the pagan practices in the world in which we live, because they walk, “in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.” (Eph. 4:17-19) “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus
2:11-13)
